About The B.E.V.

This is my blog, but it’s not only about me. More often than not, it’s me on the outside looking in, getting “the bird’s eye view” of other people’s stories – The Bev’s Eye View! I can’t imagine where I would be without some of these people, these lessons; I honestly don’t know if I would be here at all. So, I want to share what I’ve learned in the hopes that they might make a difference in your life, too.

As many of my stories come from working with older adults and the people who care for them, I have often held back from writing due to privacy concerns. However, now that my work has spanned 15 years and three provinces, when or where a situation took place or who it’s about can no longer be assumed. Experience is my safeguard and I finally feel free to share.

Often time and distance make contact impossible but, in stories about specific people, I do my best to obtain permission from the subject and note that at the end of the post. In all stories, names might be changed, identifying information might be edited or left out, and details of similar stories might be interchanged. You don’t need to know who they are about to know that these are real stories about real people. They are full of love and sadness, unbelievable strength, humour, and so much more. And I am honoured to tell them.
